Structural design and material selection of large plastic greenhouses

May 18, 2024

The structural design of greenhouses usually includes roofs, walls, windows and other parts, which play different roles in storing heat. The roof is generally made of transparent or translucent materials, such as glass or plastic film, to allow more sunlight to enter the greenhouse. The walls are made of materials with good thermal insulation performance, such as concrete, bricks or insulation boards, to reduce heat loss. The design of windows should consider the balance between ventilation and insulation, so as to adjust the temperature and humidity in the greenhouse when needed.

In terms of material selection, greenhouses usually use materials with high heat absorption and good thermal insulation performance. For example, the wall material can choose concrete or bricks with good heat storage capacity, so as to absorb sunlight and store heat during the day, and release heat at night to maintain the temperature in the greenhouse. In addition, some new materials such as phase change materials are also used in greenhouses, which can absorb or release heat when the temperature changes, further improving the thermal insulation performance of the greenhouse.
